Woman with low back pain

Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy aims to improve pelvic floor functioning and pelvic health, through exercise, education, and hands on treatment. It focuses on muscles involved in urinary, bowel, and sexual function.

Pregnancy and Pelvic Floor Therapy

Are you pregnant, have you been pregnant, or are you planning to become pregnant?

Prepare your body for labour and delivery, and recover from giving birth, with pelvic floor physiotherapy!

Whether you delivered months, years, or decades ago, or you are just at the beginning of your pregnancy journey, pelvic floor physiotherapy can help you through all the pregnancy-related changes to your body!

Is Pelvic Therapy Right for Me?

Do you have:

  • incontinence – urinary, bowel, mixed, stress, urgency
  • pelvic pain
  • low back pain, especially when other interventions haven’t helped
  • pelvic organ prolapse
  • dyspareunia, aka pain with intercourse

If so, you can benefit from Pelvic Floor Physio! Help is available – you don’t need to live with these symptoms.

What can I expect?

The process is different for everyone, but in general, here’s what you can expect:

  • We will take a detailed history of your health
  • We will then examine and assess your physical condition
  • We will work with you to formulate a treatment plan that addresses your goals, limitations, and personal comfort – then begin treatment!

What are the treatments like?

Your treatment plan will be customized to be suitable for your particular situation.  Everyone’s a little different, and we’ll find the right treatment for you!  In general, your treatment will consist of three components:

  • Manual hands-on treatment
  • Education about your condition
  • Rehabilitation exercises

When appropriate, your physiotherapist will collaborate on your care with your medical doctor, and our other healthcare providers including Chiropractors, Massage Therapists, and Naturopaths.
