What is Naturopathy?
Naturopathic medicine (also known as Naturopathy) is an evidence-based, efficacious form of medicine. Naturopaths work with patients and their existing healthcare team to optimize health outcomes.
The goal of Naturopathic medicine is to identify the underlying cause of a disease or condition, rather than simply medicating the symptoms. We use a number of tools and have various approaches to tailoring our treatment plans to the patient before us.
Conditions Treated
A naturopathic doctor, also known as a Naturopath, is trained to diagnose and treat any condition you would see a medical doctor for. The main difference lies in how we treat.
Naturopaths may help in the following:
- Cardiovascular disease
- Respiratory disease
- Kidney disease
- Liver health
- Immune and autoimmune conditions
- Environmental sensitivities
- Fertility and pregnancy
- Hormone balancing
What can I expect?
Our Naturopath, Johann, will first sit down with you and have a conversation about your health history, your current ailments, and how you’d like your health to improve.
Next, he will perform a physical examination of you, and suggest laboratory testing if necessary.
After a complete picture of your health has been revealed, he will discuss treatment options for you, which may include:
- Nutritional changes and/or supplementation
- Acupuncture
- Manual therapies
- Rehabilitative exercises
